Has my site been HACKED?

  1. I haven't accessed my account in several months. When I did, just now, there were several posts which are making me think someone has hacked my account. One post reads:

Testing Testing Te - Testing Testing Testing Testing h...

And there are 7 messages total, like this. Can anyone tell me what this is all about and how I can stop it from happening, again? I really don't want to close my site.

The blog I need help with is

  2. You have a couple of obscured links off site that do not look like they should be there - I will flag this for staff attention -

In the mean time looks at the solutions below - also double check the passwords and security of your email account and make sure your PC does not have a virus.

The only “hacked” sites I have seen here have been people getting the password somehow to a site so you do want to be careful how you log in and use a tough password.

You should also check to make sure that someone has not added a new user to your site. Problems have also happened when there was more than one Admin. and an Admin left on less than graceful terms.

    Dashboard >> Users

There have also been a few Posts on “hacked” sites and it was because someone got the Post by Email address and using the Post by Email to send in new Posts, if you have Post by email you can regenerate the address for that feature.

If you are really concerned you could as the staff to look at your site:

You could also use a secure log-in in case you are on an unsecured link:

    how many admins are there?

  3. it s been weeks now that i cannot access my blogs, cannot post anymore. One time it said that WordPress server was slowing down and that i should have waited, but after weeks it s the same everyday: ALL BLOCKED. Can you please help so that i can start to post again, i m quite regular in posting and updating my blog, THANKS and few other blogs too.

  4. Have you tried to contact staff? Can you get to your dashboard?

  5. thanks for your reply rain coaster. where is the staff link? sometimes i could visualize the dashboard but without going any farther than that.

  6. If you can't get to the dashboard you can't contact staff. Did you enable posting by email?

  7. yes i enabled months ago and i was posting successfully via IPhone. now it seems it does work anymore. shall i try again and you can perhaps check out my blog and see if it s been posted.

  8. Change your email password. It's a security risk.

And yes, i see the Raincoaster post

  9. i can't even visualize my blog anymore on the Laptop. OK i ll change the email password now.

  10. Also, temporarily disable post by email since in all likelihood one of the bots on the internet guessed your post by email password.

You can then later regenerate a new post by email password and reactivate it.

  11. i just changed my email password but cannot access my blog yet.
@thesacredpath: how to temporarily unable email post?

  12. i can visualize my blog on the iPhone but not on the laptop, nor enter the dashboard at all.

  13. Done! i restarted the Browser on the laptop, now i can access my blog, Thanks

  14. Congratulations! That must have been anxiety-building.

  15. rainbowsending, I don't see anything on your account to suggest a hack, but you might want to change your password just in case.

These seem to be coming from a Twitter account that you connected to your blog, possibly through
