I have my blog name at the top: Annabel Ruffell’s Blog, but I do not want the words “Just another WordPress site” after it. I want to add something different but cannot for the life of me see how to change this part.
Also my blog keeps coming up as being in Uncategorized and I keep trying to put it in one of my categories but again having a lot of frustration trying to do this basic thing.

    Thanks.

The blog I need help with is annabelruffell.wordpress.com.

The “Just another Word Press” with the header is called a tagline. You can change the tagline in your settings under dashboard.

To be exact, it’s under Settings > General

We assign Categories only to posts and not to pages or to blogs. Categorized is the default category for all posts. You can set your own default Category by first creating it,
    Adding Categories via Your Dashboard
and then changing it on this page > Settings > Writing > Default Post Category
Thereafter you can assign Categories to your post prior to publication
Adding Categories with the Categories Module
Categories can be displayed by using the Categories Widget. Note that there must be at least one published post in each Category for the widget to have data to display.

Yikes! In my second sentence first word I typed “Categorized ” when I meant to type Uncategorized.

I am a novice. I have a blog with wordpress and I have not done much. But, I am working on a web site using Kompozer.

How do I put my own template instead of wordpress’s?
    Thanks

If you are referring to a free hosted WordPress.com blog the answer is you can’t. There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and we cannot install individual plugins or any themes into them Those found on the internet are for wordpress.ORG installs which run on different software.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/

On free hosted wordpress.COM blogs we can only use the themes which have been coded to run on this multi-user software and made available to us here. > Appearance > Themes and no others. We cannot edit either themes or templates on free hosted wordpress.COM blogs. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/editing-themes/

If you wish to have complete control over a blog, the ability to upload themes and plugins, and to edit themes and templates then your option is to hire a web host and get a free software install from WordPress.ORG and self host it.

Many thanks timethief. I have no problem getting someone to do a blog, as I have done everything else for my site (all statics). I have a domain name, a server, and just learning the ropes.

I understand what you mean. Thank you and take care.

That’s good to hear as we do not provide support for any blogs on local servers on this support forum. Here we provide support only for blogs being free hosted by WordPress.com. All other must post to http://wordpress.org/support/ for assistance.
