Have just joined wordpress to try with my limited knowledge of computers to do all the artwork and design to set up a website. Have already joined supergreen hostings to supply the domain and hosting and have had several emails to them but all they say is I have to do all the work myself. They are okay to take your money but then just leave you out on your own to do all the work and they sugested I do everything on somewhere like wordpress and then transfer all into their templates. They have not given me very long to do this so I am very stressed about it all. Now I cannot get started on wordpress as it will not let me do what I want to do. I tried to upload one single image as a backdrop but it just multiplies these into about 22 images. All I want to do is creat a green box with the single image as background and then put some boxes at the top for various texts. HELP ! It is driving me crazy.

The blog I need help with is trevorlawrancephotography.wordpress.com.

I am assuming your are uploading a single image to be the backround of your wordpress.com blog.

    – you’ve apparently picked a “theme” that allows background images already.

-go back to your dashboard left column ->Appearance-> backround
    -upload that image you want
-beside “Repeat” click the selection: “No Repeat

If you are not hosting on WordPress.COM then you are in the wrong forum:

This site is for support of sites hosted on WordPress.COM. You should address your questions to WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using: http://wordpress.org/support/

For more on the difference: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

If you are asking about the blog linked to your name you are in the correct forum –

So the question is what site are you really going to go live with? You could be doing a lot of work here that will not transfer to the implied site you have mentioned –

A link to the site you want to take live would help us give you accurate advice.

I have a similar question. Even when I click “no repeat” my image doesn’t show as a background correctly. I think it is a large file, from an internet background site, but on wordpress it always comes up postage stamp size. How can I make it fit the screen?
