help defining first page for wordpress

This must be a simple matter so I appologize in advance, but I can’t see the first page of the first post in wordpress.
I installed on my local computer http apache, php, mysql latest version.
When I try to access http://localhost/ I’m getting a page with all the files that are on the main directory of wordpress.
In order to get to the configurations page I need to enter http://localhost/wp-admin/index.php that sounds a bit strange that there isn’t a simpler way to do this.
After that I define the first post. In the link it says http://localhost/?p=1.
But after trying to access it, I’m getting the page I got when I entered http://localhost
    It seems I’m forgetting something.
    Help would be appriciated.
    Thanks in advance
