I meant to delete http://www.frcicnews.wordpress.com but I deleted http://www.frcic.wordpress.com. It looks like the site is still up at http://www.frcic.com but I can’t access it to update it anymore. What can I do?

The blog I need help with is frcicnews.wordpress.com.

I’m so sorry you did that. To delete a blog takes bypassing 3 warnings that blog deletion is irreversible and clicking a confirmation link in an email for good reason ie. deleted blog URLs are not recycled.

You can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

Thanks for answering so quickly, timethief. I’m still shaking from panic!

I had already done the domain mapping upgrade thing a few weeks ago, which is why I think the site at frcic.com is still live. So I guess that means we don’t lose our public face, for now, but how can I access the site to update it?

The mistake was from the similar names, frcic & frcicnews. I had selected the correct one but the first time I tried, it didn’t work (I hadn’t noticed a box I was supposed to check). When I tried a second time, it worked, and that’s when I didn’t notice it was for the wrong blog! :(

You cannot access a blog that has been deleted – it is gone.
You can go to Google’s cache and copy and paste any cached indexed content you find there into new posts. http://tinyurl.com/csfyqna

If you did have your RSS Feed set to full and you were subscribed to it then you can “rescue” your content from the emailed copies.

If you generated XML files for backup purposes then your issue is solved because you can import the file.

Thanks for the info, timethief. I see I will more or less have to start over, except for the stuff I did save.

Just to make sure, though, that I won’t lose access to the live site while I’m in the rebuilding process — http://www.frcic.com won’t suddenly go offline will it? The upgrade we purchased ensures it will remain viewable, right?

    Thanks again!
