Help me add image link….
I don’t have an example in my site, as it is in the draft stage yet, so don’t bother searching for it :-)
I want to add a phrase like “next time you see THIS” – in a way that “THIS” would be a link to an image. However, if I try to do that it asks for a location for the photo (a web address). If I upload my photo to flickr, what pops up is the full flickr page, that’s not what I want. I want JUST the image.
I know there is a way to do it, but could not find a clear explanation in the support site.
The blog I need help with is bewitchingkitchen.wordpress.com.
The image must have a web address to post. You need to open the image in flicker to get it’s direct web address. In photobucket I usually open the image, then remove anything after “jpg” in the address. If you don’t want the flicker address, you can upload the image from flicker to wordpress and post it that way. Or download the photo from flicker, then upload it to wordpress.
Thanks, John, fellow runner! :-)
I don’t think it will work the way I want with flickr, then. Here is the link to the image
there is no way I can remove anything and get the image only.
When you say “you can upload the image to wordpress and post it that way” – where exactly would I upload it to? Because if I upload anything as I am writing the post, it ends up in the gallery, and I guess the only way to add it to the post is by inserting the full image, not a hot link to it. Am I mistaken?
You’re quite welcome, Sally, fellow runner. :-)
Right click on the image, select “view image”, and you get this address.
You would insert a hot link like this:
Here is a <a href="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2549/3779937554_060bbe1a87_o.jpg">tasty treat</a> that you might enjoy.
Or use the image insertion in the visual editor. I’m not quite sure how that works as I use the other one.
Big thank you!!!!!
You are very welcome!
“If I upload anything as I am writing the post, it ends up in the gallery, and I guess the only way to add it to the post is by inserting the full image, not a hot link to it.”
No. You can upload it via Media > Add New, copy the URL that shows up and use it for the link. It’s better than linking to an external site.
Worked like a charm! Now, if only I remember all the instructions next time… :-)
actually, I am starting to feel more comfortable about all these tricks, and one thing I just learned is that by clicking on my name all the posts I made in the past here pop up. A double edged sword for sure, as I can see all the silly questions that every newcomer makes and could be avoided with a little extra reading and patience… :-)
but it makes it easier to retrieve very useful info too. Like this one…
