HELP ME FIND THE BLOG I CREATED THIS ISN'T WORKING
Once again, I tried to change my username and create a blog with this. Well, it FAILED to create a blog, but now the name that I want to use for a blog is suddenly not available. AGAIN, this is because I just CREATED AN ADDRESS UNDER THIS NAME. There is NO REASON AT ALL this should not be working.
Also, does ANYONE have ANY luck getting someone to actually help them. I am overwhelmed with how frustrating this is.
Blog url: http://bronwynaverett.wordpress.com/
The blog I need help with is bronwynaverett.wordpress.com.
Originally, I wanted to use a different address. I used this because it hadn’t been taken. I wanted to see what happened. Originally, I had wanted to blog under “wakethediner.wordpress.com” which has now been deleted. But I was NEVER able to access the blog.
if that’s the blog you mean then know this regarding the the 404 (page not found) error message http://en.support.wordpress.com/not-found/ on your front page — it was caused by you deleting the Hello World placeholder post. As soon as you publish a post, not a page http://http//en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ it will disappear.
If you have not yet located the step by step learn wordpress.com tutorial linked to on the bottom of your Admin page then here’s that link http://learn.wordpress.com
It is now telling me that this site “already exists” but funny thing about that is, if you go to “wakethediner.wordpress.com” would will find that “the authors” (that’s me) have “deleted” it. Is it really so impossible to change this?
I had wanted to blog under “wakethediner.wordpress.com” which has now been deleted.
wakethediner.wordpress.com is no longer available.
The authors have deleted this blog.
I’m sorry but there are no exceptions made; deleted blog URLs here are not recycled.
That’s why 3 warnings are given and why a verification link in an email that must be clicked is sent in order to accomplish deletion.
You can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
Or you can register a domain vis a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.
Okay, yeah, that’s fine and all. But when I created that name it DID NOT come with a blog. Clearly there is no way to fix this. All I want to do now is promptly delete my blog and look for more productive venues. Thank you for your help.
7. The final option presented on this screen allows you to discard your current address. This option will permanently disable the address and you will not be able to reuse it. Only select this option if you are sure you will not use the address again. If you want to redirect traffic to the new blog, you can keep the address and purchase the Site Redirect upgrade. http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/
Best wishes to you no matter what you decide to do.
Well, now here’s the comeuppance. Apparently these comments are visible on the web of world-wide proportions. What would be lovely -Timethief, I’m talkin’ atcha – is if this thread could be deleted entirely. However, should it not be, the internet, and anyone concerned, should be informed that I was having a rather less than lovely day when this blog began, and that it was quite frustrating indeed. Also, I never quite solved this problem. Do you really think it’s all that great of an idea to have people’s help requests pop up on the internet? Some bloggers don’t totally love to have their web idiocy displayed in searchable terms…
Yes, it is essential that these answers be available, in case other people are frustrated, thinking about changing their URLs, read this, and then are warned that the process is not tremendously reversible.
If you want to bury this thread, the best way to do it is to start a blog with your username and blog a lot. In no time it will outrank this forum thread.
Oo, now, see, I feel that’s debatable. Frankly, neither these questions nor their answers were that particularly useful. Especially when compared with the possible detrimental effects should anyone search my name and discover that I am – gasp – rather bad at blogging, with a tendency to frustration when asking for technical aide. It’s not terribly comfortable to see one’s name broadcast like that – particularly as a momentary fill-in since I merely wanted to test what I was doing in wordpress. I mean, really, who blogs under their name? Don’t you think it’s sort of creepy that you don’t let users erase their accounts for good?
a) it’s not my decision, I don’t work for WordPress
b) when you put something in writing and publish it, it’s public.
