help! please!

  • I created a website with Weebly and need to point my domain to their servers. Can you set this up for me or walk me through the process of making these changes? I need to create A-Records for “www.erikabaranek.com” and for my root domain. That’s one record for “ww.erikabaranek” pointing to 199.34.228.58. And one record for the root domain pointing to 199.34.228.58
    .

If you need more info on these changes, please see:

    http://kb.weebly.com/domain-registrar.html

Note that I want to keep using you as my domain registrar. I am not requesting a transfer and do not have new name servers to provide you.

    Thanks!

  • For all other registrars, follow these general instructions:
1: Log in to your domain’s control panel
2: Locate the area to change your domain’s DNS settings
3: Create 2 A-Records to point to Weebly’s IP address
    A-Record Host Points to
#1 The root of your domain (usually identified by a @ or * symbol) 199.34.228.58
    #2 www 199.34.228.58

  • If you’ve registered your domain through WordPress.com and now want it to point to a blog or website hosted elsewhere then you can do this by updating the nameservers.

Nameservers / Primary and Secondary DNS
We do not offer nameservers for domain name configuration. But you can still use your domain with a site created through our service by pointing A-Records to our IP Address.

So to setup your domain with our service, configure your domain’s A-Record with your existing domain registrar. We have detailed instructions on how to do this on our Setup a Domain You Already Own help page.

If your domain registrar will not allow you to alter your A-Records (this is rare), we recommend transferring the domain to GoDaddy or Yahoo Small Business. They’re inexpensive and they work well with our system. We even have specific instructions for both of those registrars on the help page mentioned above.

    They say that’s not possible?

  • I really need this to start working… I have done everything I can to fix this… I have worked on it for about a week and nothing has happened. I just need when I type in my website it pops up with what I have built on weebly.com … my wordpress is not what I want to show up anymore.

  • Hi there – I’ve made the DNS changes for you and your domain is now pointing to Weebly:

    http://www.erikabaranek.com/

It can take from a few hours up to 48 hours in some cases for the DNS to fully propagate (take effect) throughout the Internet.

Just let us know if you need further assistance.

  • Hi kathrnwp,

  • I am in process of transfering my domain name over. I ran into a slight problem. My e-mail address is incorrect on my registration and I can’t figure out how to change it. I actually called the number listed and they pointed me in the direction of support. Right, now my e-mail ends with

    @domainsbyproxy
.com Which I have no clue how to change. Please Help!!

  • cynthiam10 – I would be glad to point your domain to Weebly if you can provide the correct IP address. Thanks.

  • inspiringsavings – could you please let me know exactly what you are trying to do so I can help? If you have a private domain registration, your real email is hidden, and an anonymous @domainsbyproxy.com is displayed to the public instead, so that’s what you’re seeing.

  • banxietyfree – I’ve pointed your domain to the IP provided and your Weebly site is now visible here: http://www.banxietyfree.com/

It can take 24-48 hours for DNS to fully propagate, so if you don’t see your site, you can try checking back later, or try clearing your browser’s cache.

  • Hi kathrynwp,

Thank you for wanting to help me direct my domain to weebly.com.
The only thing I could find is this:

  • Thank you so much kathrynwp! I appreciate your help!

  • I am so beyond thankful that I finally found this thread. I was a raving mess last night trying to do this on my own.

I too, need to point my DNS to Weebly. Here is the information I was instructed to submit:

Hello, I have purchased my domain http://www.travelbystephanie.com from you. I have built my website on Weebly.com. I need you to point my domain to the following IP: 199.34.228.56

This is done by changing my domain’s A-Records. I am not requesting that you transfer my domain, redirect my domain, or change my name servers. I want to remain with you as my domain registrar. For more detailed information, please see http://kb.weebly.com/domain-registrar.html.

I need to create A-Records for “www” and for my root domain. That’s one record for “www” pointing to 199.34.228.56. And one record for the root domain pointing to 199.34.228.56.

    my website is http://www.travelbystephanie.com

I will sing your praises from the rooftops if you can make this happen.
    Thank you so much!

  • Hi travelbystephanie – I’ve taken care this and can see your Weebly site here:

    Welcome to Travel by Stephanie
