I already added the domain name to my wordpress site. Then I bought hosting from and thought that any uploads I made would overwrite the wordpress site. It didn’t work…

You need to point the name servers to Godaddy if you want to host there. You can’t have two sites with the same domain name. You also need to make sure your hosting at Godaddy is set up to catch your domain name.

This forum is only to help with sites hosted on WordPress.COM. Don’t know where you can get help with a Dreamweaver site.

the host at Godaddy is setup with that URL address. My problem is that wordpress.COM won’t let go of my URL so that I can use it with another host and designing program.

so my problem is with wordpress.COM not That’s why I ask the question on this forum…

You have to update the nameservers in your domain management here and point it at godaddy (they should have given you the nameservers to use). It will take up to 72 hours for the nameserver change propagation to take place. How soon you will see your new site under the domain name is entirely dependent on how often your ISP updates their nameserver caches. Some do it frequently, and some do not.

    Good evening :)

Thank you! That was it, thesacredpath.
