Hero Theme layout and static page issues.

  1. What I want is to have a static front page with a welcome message, and the 2 widget links to my galleries on it. I want "new posts" to only show on my "blog" page. I've tried to set that up but blog posts show up on the front page as well.

I have a feeling that if I can get the "new posts" to only show up on my "blog" page, then I won't have a "welcome" post on the front ...which will be another issue all together.

One issue I see is that on the admin panel where I set the "static page" I can only select from "about me" or "blog"....I don't have the option of selecting "home" to be the static page.

Also, I dont see a way to create a permanent blurb, quote, or deep thought that is always in the same spot on the front page....I could use that as the "welcome blurb".

    Any help would be great!

The blog I need help with is

  2. By default the front page of your blog displays all published posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. That is for the convenience of your returning visitors, who come to read your latest post, and who are not likely to be happy with being compelled to click through the same static page with the same blah, blah, blah on it every time they visit the blog looking for the latest post.

However, if you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page called for example “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for posts. To do that create two pages first

After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.

    A static page (select below)

    Posts page:

  3. That's a valid point. So, is there a way to create a "sticky" post that clings to the top while all other posts fall in underneath?

  4. Thank you VERY much!! That will work well.

However, now my blog page is empty...haha.

  5. You're welcome.

However, now my blog page is empty...haha.

Then publish posts. :) By default the front page of the blog is the only page that will display all published posts on it. If you chnage it to a static page and have a blog page for posts and none appear on it know that as soon as you publish a post not a page the error message will be gone.

  6. Ahh, ok. Well, maybe the thing to do is just delete the blog page and let everything post to the front page. You resolved the issue of my Welcome! message, so i guess that really solves by problem of wanting a static page. I added gallery pages to the top menu, so if folks want to see my artwork they can just click on the links or the widgets.

I just want something uncluttered and clean with easy navigation.

    THANK YOU for you help!!
