Hi. I would like a personal comment removed from another wordpress user's site.

Hi. I have left a comment on a website that’s not my own. I thought it would be possible to remove a comment once noticed by the site administrator. But it is not possible and I have left personal information, like an email address, in the comment which I would other wise have liked to disclose.

Please can you help me with a way to remove the
    Comment. The address is iridescentsouls.com/contact

    Thank you

The blog I need help with is tvbharmonicsaudio.wordpress.com.

A site owner has complete control over what appears on their site. You will need to contact that person directly to have your comment removed from their site. WordPressdotcom will not remove for you a comment you made there.

    See this Support doc: https://en.support.wordpress.com/comments/#can-i-edit-comments-i-left-on-someone-else%E2%80%99s-blog

This is definitely something that needs to be changed. It should be, like with all other web platforms, at the user’s discretion to remove his/her own comment.

I disagree. When you leave a comment on a website, it pays to remember that you are visiting someone’s home on the web and to act accordingly. The onus of what one posts in a comment is in your (the commenter’s) hands until you click the submit button. Once you’ve hit the submit button, you’ve crossed their home’s threshold and are publicly accountable for your behavior/comment. If afterwards you feel your comment should be removed (which probably means you shouldn’t have clicked submit to begin with), then contact the site owner and explain.

Just so you know, every person who comments on a WordPressdotcom site while logged in with their account automatically shares their contact email with that site owner. That is intentional.

I disagree. Any form of content published on the web by a person should be left in the control of that person to remove or keep in that allotted space provided them, especially with an open source platform like wordpress where there are no binding usage terms. The domain legally belongs to the site owner, granted.
So another question, what’s with your profile picture? And who are you anyway? Thanks for intentionally not helping. :)

@calvincommentary So, on this matter, we shall agree to disagree.

…And who are you anyway? Thanks for intentionally not helping. :)

In spite of the notation at the bottom of every forum comment box “please keep comments on the topics at hand and not on other members of the community” I’ll be glad to reply.

I’m a long-term volunteer (a bit more than 9 years now) in these mostly peer-to-peer support forums. The word “Member” under my profile photo means that my standing here is as a community member, same as you.

The answer I gave @tvbharmonicsaudio reflects and includes the information in the WordPressdotcom support document I linked to in my reply. If you wish to escalate that to Staff, add the MODLOOK tag to the Tags section of the forum thread sidebar for their attention.

    Cheers!

    tvbharmonicsaudio is also me.

It’s alright. I did manage to get in touch with the administrator. But if you are a representative of wordpress.com, remember a basic principle of customer service: thw customer is always right. The goal of wordpress is to be accommodating to it’s users. (That’s if they would like to grow and become the best at what they do.)

    Cheers
