I’ve disallowed comments, like, etc on the gallery page, but when the slideshow runs (automatically when you click on an image), the comments, like facility is still there. How do I get rid of it, please?

The blog I need help with is onepaintingaweek.wordpress.com.

Hi there, I see that on this page onepaintingaweek.wordpress.com/gallery/shop you are using the Gallery feature as described here https://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/

In order to turn off commenting on the Photo Carousel that opens after clicking any image thumbnail, you’ll have to edit each image to disallow commenting.

Go to your site’s Media Library and hover your cursor over the image thumbnail and you’ll see the word “Edit” appear. Once you are on the Edit screen, look for the “Discussion” module (screenshot), then uncheck the boxes next to “Allow Comments” and “Allow Trackbacks”. Then click the Update button to save your changes.

Unfortunately, because you’ve already uploaded your images and created your Gallery, you’ll need to do this for each image that appears there. Currently there’s no “bulk edit” for images.

Until then, if you are going to be creating a lot of image Galleries, you may want to go to your site’s Discussion Settings and turn off commenting site wide, which will also affect newly uploaded Media files. However, you will then have to turn on commenting in the Discussion Module of each new post before you publish.

Another option is to edit the Gallery to change its “Link to” option to “Media File”. This will entirely remove the Photo Carousel and/or Attachment pages. Personally I find this option the least friendly for site visitors.

Let us know if you need more help with that.
