Hide page title in twenty ten theme

    I want to hide the page title (Layout Clips) on one of my pages: http://rachelmetea.com/clips/newspaper-layout/.

    I don’t want to have to delete the title all together because I want it to appear in the dropdown menu. Is there a way (I have the paid css upgrade) to hide it so that it will not appear on the page?

    The blog I need help with is rachelmetea.com.

    This should do it for you.

    .parent-pageid-343 #content .entry-title {
    display: none;

    Worked. Thanks!

    You are welcome.

    Does this CSS code work in the Pilcrow theme as well? I want to do the same thing (hide the title on the page, but keep it on my menu at the top of my page), but it doesn’t seem to be working correctly. I am taking my page IDs (or what I think are the page IDs) and replacing them with the one in the above CSS code. I want to do it on my “About” page, “Services” page, and “Contact” page. My site is librariantogo.com. Thanks!

    CSS is theme specific which means the solution is typically different for each theme. Since you are wanting to take the title off of static pages in general, we can just target pages as below.

    .page .entry-title {
    display: none;

    Worked like a charm :) Thanks!!!

    I have had a similar dilema using the twentyten theme….

    I tried using your idea above:

    .parent-pageid-415 #content .entry-title {
    display: none;

    but it doesn’t seem to work. Using twentyten with a child theme. Added the code to childtheme’s stylesheet, just dropping on the last line. Any ideas?

    @rachelmetea what theme are you using?

    @greenpeas, the site linked to your username is using Mistylook. If you are talking about a blog hosted here at wordpress.COM, then we need a link to that blog please.

    Is this entry supposed to go into the style.css file? If so… where? If not – where?

    Would anyone be able to help with a hide title code for the “Clean home” theme?

    @thesacredpath you seem to be the expert on this topic – but unfortunately none of the codes I’ve tried have worked yet.

    Thank you in advance!!

    @amaroticoa, the blog linked to your username is using Oulipo. We need a link to the blog that you are talking about please.

    @tylerswire, the code above would go into the CSS edit window. Do you have the CSS upgrade? At wordpress.COM, we don’t actually “edit” the existing code. What we do is add code that overwrites the like selectors and declarations in the original CSS.

    @thesacredpath I’m having trouble with this. I want to hide the page title on my page named Home. Looking at your code above, I believe I should be adding this to my Custom CSS:

    .parent-pageid-4 #content .entry-title {

    I believe my pageid is 4, based on what I see in my address bar when I go to Pages->Pages and click on the title of the page.

    I *am* able to hide that Page title when I use this code:

    .page .entry-title {
    display: none;

    But I’d like to hide it only on the page I’ve named Home.

    Your blog is set to “private” and we cannot see which theme you are using. CSS is theme specific which means the solution is typically different for each theme.

    @timethief Sorry. I’ve removed the privacy. I’m using the Twenty Ten theme, so I thought that @sacredpaths code would work as it did for @rachelmetea.

    I suspect that my problem is with how am identifying the page. I’m pretty sure that I have the page ID correct as “4”, but my page doesn’t have a parent, and the code from @sacredpath shows “.parent-pageid-nnn”

    The other code was for a different situation. Use this for yours.

    .home .entry-title {

    [quote].page .entry-title {
    display: none;

    thank you. the line works for me

    You are welcome.
