Hide Widgets on Certain Pages of your blog

First, my blog is a portfolio: http://www.annaurban.wordpress.com.

I added the pages widget, but I only want the subpages to show up under one of my pages (titled Portfolio). I have seen solutions where you edit the CSS. Is there any other way?

Alternatively, if I were using “pagination” is there any way to rename the pages instead of numbers as different words, and for that to display at the top of the page? Thanks,

The blog I need help with is annaurban.wordpress.com.

With the theme you’re using, you must a) add links to the subpages in the “Portfolio” page and b) either get the ID numbers of the subpages, open the Pages widget, and exclude the subpages form showing in the sidebar, or remove the Pages widget altogether.

Or you can switch to Fauna or Regulus: in these two themes, when you view a static page the sidebar changes to display links to the page’s subpages.

Pagination numbers cannot be edited into words.
