Home page changed w/o notice, eliminating some of my content

  • I check my Home page daily. Yesterday 8/9/10 I noticed a lot of my right column content (forgot what it’s called) including, among other items, the number of total visits to date and two quotations praising the blog. (One from The New Yorker & the other by Dave Barry). Other things are also missing. This appears to be a new Home page set-up that I didn’t have any input on.

Why was this changed and how can I get back those items, esp. the ones noted above??

  • Hi tygerpen

Your theme was Cutline. It was replaced by a new theme called Coraline. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/cutline-to-coraline-faqs?replies=32

    right column = sidebar
things in the column = widgets

If you are having trouble adding your widgets back into your sidebar,
    1. Appearance —> Widgets —> scroll down to Inactive Widgets —> drag and drop into your sidebar.
    2. A few people have had trouble with the drag and drop method, and if you do, then up on the top right of your screen click on Screen Options to “enable accessibility mode”
    3. The sidebar in Coraline is a bit different. Here is an article about how they work:

The Coraline layouts (and the Mullenweg-Pearson dispute…)

  • If the text widgets no longer contain the quotations, you should presumably be able to copy them from a cached version of your site on Google or yahoo.
