Home page column shifted
I am new on here. I got my blog to the point that I thought I could let some people know about it. Someone posted a comment and the home page (right column) seems to have lost orientation. The right column is now placed under the posts in the home page. All of the other pages look fine. The problem seems to only be with the main (home) page. I am using the Ocean Mist theme. Any help would be very much appreciated. I don’t have any idea what happened.
The blog I need help with is drmissionary.wordpress.com.
We need a link to your blog in order to help you.
It’s your placement of the “more” tag that is causing the issue. It cannot be within a paragraph, a blockquote or within an ordered or unordered list. It also cannot be before the ending tag for paragraph formatting such as bold or italics, etc.
First thing I strongly suggest is to go to settings > writing and select “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and then press “save changes at the bottom of the page.
Next, open each post that has the more tag, place the cursor at the end of the paragraph before the more tag, and hit return. Then click the “update post” button.
With the change to settings > writing I suggested, that should keep you out of trouble, but as a general rule, always put the more tag on it’s own line (as if it is a separate paragraph).
thesacredpath, Thank you. You are a genius! It is fixed now. I can see that I have a lot to learn still. I’ll keep at it, and with folks like you on here, I know I’ll eventually get it. :)
You’re very welcome, and we were all beginners once. When I started I spent a lot of time in the forums and in the FAQ’s trying to figure things out as well.
