    hi there
new thing in stats is – home page in “Top posts and pages”
how is it picked up? [the home pge]
as it does not co inside with the searches that are done that brings traffic to ones blog
nor is it the front page [posts those one selects to show first irrispective of the date of publication]
or the home page – if that is the first page when one clicks on the blog name ie the blog URL
    if you get my drift?!
    any one?

tried to ask support this question and didn’t get a satisfactory answer

The blog I need help with is bizlinks.wordpress.com.

ps: those that show up as “home page” are categorised as scrolling down the front page and not clicking on any post?
    or
    what are they?
    and
how do they happen to be able to find our blog and land up as a home pager?!

how about creating a skype wordpress group for a chat for those of us who are better at chatting than writing?!

Volunteers do not have any information beyond what Staff do. There are threads in the forum searchbox on this topic that where Staff state the same thing that Staff told you.

The Home page of your blog is the front page that visitors see first when they click in. WordPress.com stats are for page views they are not for individual visitors. To see hwat is included in Home page stats read this support documentation entry http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/

    Top Posts widget support documentation:

    ok
not my experience of the forum :-)
there are very old hat bloggers here who know what behind the scene things mean – they are the professionals! blogging is their life!
support was evasive in my view
staff i think ought to know what it means when “home page” hits show up on our stats – after all they are the ones that specify what the stats should be showing?
so if stats are to be helpful in seeing what’s being looked at – i need to know what the bleep home page hits are! and how they get to pick up on our blog

Support staff have explained both Top Posts calculations and with regard to Home Page changes in the announcement here http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2010/01/06/two-new-stats-things/. They have done so in the support documentation entries I gave you the links to. They have also explained in the threads that were created by wordpress.com bloggers. We are all expected to be capable of searching before we post. In fact, that’s the status quo everywhere on any forum on the internet.

not if your going round in circles – my attention span is about 5 mins – just to find the forum is a major effort for me – let alone reading through posts that don’t address what i want to know

    thanx for your time

Home page stats is both. It’s the loading of your main URL like orgb.wordpress.com.
