How can I block unwanted followers?
How can I block unwanted followers? There are followers who don’t do anything illegal, but e.g. display themselves blog content that I feel uneasy with. How can I block them?
The blog I need help with is lesezeichenkultur.wordpress.com.
We cannot block or delete subscribers from public blogs. Everyone on the internet can view and follow any public blog.
You can change your blog visibility to “private” http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/ Please read this about public blogs that become private blogs > Blog Privacy and Subscribers > http://wpcommaven.wordpress.com/2011/09/05/blog-privacy-and-subscribers/
Note that you have complete control over everything that’s posted to your blog.
Thank you for your advise! I very much agree, that the use of the internet should be free to anyone. On the other hand, I find that the question of the followers is on a different level. Of course, anyone may read my posts. But when they become my “followers” or when they comment or “like” my posts, they attach their internet identity and activities actively to mine. My blog has so far gotten the attention of an aggressively advertising missionary church, of several commercial advertising agencies and of a user with a slightly alarming taste for rather mean and scary monsters and mutants (at least this user has some non-commercail interest, it seems). I put up my WordPress blog in order to find out how to use it in a professional way in my non-profit work-field. I am thinking about my clients there – they could be students or other people who rely on reading unbiased information. I couldn’t recommend my blog to them, knowing that it would get them in touch with a whole bunch of people and firms that want to make use of (me and of) them in rather dubious ways.
