How can I upload text to my Home page, not just links to other pages?
I have a static Home page. When I went to Media – Add New and uploaded a pdf of my resume, a link to my resume appeared on my home page, but not the resume itself. How can I upload actual text (and picture) to my home page, not just links to other pages?

The blog I need help with is douglascopyediting.com.
There is only one dynamic page for posts that automatically updates in a blog and all posts will display on that page. There is no way to exclude posts from the main posts (blog) page. By default the front page of the blog will display your posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. If you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page also create a Page for your posts to display on. http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/
Thanks for your answer. I do have a static front page created. My problem is that I can’t get any text onto it. When I upload a page to my Home page, I get no text, just a link to the page I uploaded. So I’m still not clear on how to put text onto my static Home page. Any thoughts?

Well, a .pdf file document isn’t really text as such and won’t display in a browser window. The link appears because it’s necessary to open a .pdf reader on the viewer’s computer.
You may want to look into this however as it may accomplish what you want:
Thanks for posting that.
If you want to embed the document itself into a post, then you will have to use a third party application like Scribd or Google Docs.
Thank you, timethief and notawoodpecker. I’ll try your suggestions and let you know how it comes out.
