How can we determine where content (a post) displays on our homepage?

We are a high school newspaper site using the Oxygen theme. We want to be able to pick which posts (stories) go in our featured articles section (“Recent articles”) on our homepage and which go into “Other articles” section below that. We want the bigger stories with photos to go into “Recent articles,” not just the latest post (which may be a little blurb with no photo). Also, can we change the name of those headings? We’d prefer “Featured Articles” to “Recent Articles.”
We have premium membership with WorldPress. Thanks!

There isn’t a way to do that specifically, but you could use the Showcase page template to add a third section for featured posts.

Please see this for more info: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/oxygen/
