How can you tell how many feed readers you have on free wordpress?

  • Hello,

I’m currently using the free version of wordpress. People can subscribe to my blog using the RSS feed but I’m not sure how to see how many of them are currently doing so. Is there a way that I’m not aware of and is there any way to display this information on my blog without upgrading?

    Thanks,
    Raegn

  • This is something that I suspect is a difficult to track. If people would say subscribe to your feed using a feed service like feedburner, wordpress would see feedburner pull your feed once, but there could be tens or even hundreds of people reading that feed via feedburner. The same goes for Google reader and Yahoo, and the others as well.

  • Hi, thanks for the reply. I’ve seen little graphics on other wordpress blogs that list the number of feed readers, usually in a little rectangular box. Is this something that’s available? It would give me *somewhat* of a better picture, although you’re right about the RSS accumulators.

    Thanks again!

  • If you notice, those will be from a feed aggregator such as feedburner, or Google or Yahoo. Each will only show the feeds being served by that particular service.

You can, after signing up for those services, get those small graphics and place them on your blog. Just make sure that the code is the pure HTML code and does not contain javascript.

  • Thanks thesacredpath!
