How do I add a live drop-down menu to my pages?

  1. How do I add a live drop-down menu to my pages? I would like two of my pages to have a drop down menu where each item is a link to a document. For example, one of my pages is a book, and I would like the drop down to be the chapters. How do I do this? Thank you!

The blog I need help with is

  2. (1) There is only one page we can post to in any blog and
    (2) The static pages we create do not automatically update.

Only the dynamic pages like Archives, Categories and Tags created by the software when we publish a post will update automatically update with new posts.

By default the front page of the blog is the post that displays all posts in your blog. Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts (not pages) and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.

We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can create a custom menu and add the dynamic categories pages into the custom menu.

  3. Timethief, thank you for your help, but perhaps my question was not clear. I do not need them to "automatically populate" - i can do that manually. What I need to be able to do, is to organize the submenu's by chapter links. I see that in just about every blog so I know it's done but I don't know how to do it. The custom menu option seems to be unwieldy when you are dealing with 40 chapters. How would I create a custom menu for 40 chapters? Would I post them as posts, and then add the post to the custom menu? The custom menu on my appearance seems to group only pages, not posts. Am I missing something? Thank you!

  4. Okay then is this what you are looking for?

  5. Hey timethief, thank you so much for your help with this. I tried this at home, and it does not work. :-( It converts my home page into an index. What I am looking for is a way to post 40 chapters under a different page. I have no problem posting them on the home page, as long as they also appear on some type of index on the other page. I have a reason why I am insisting on it, I promise. Thank you so much for your help!!!

  6. I'm sorry that will not work for you. Perhaps another Volunteer or Staff will have a suggestion for you.

  7. Hey timethief, thank you so much. I figured it out with submenus and with the help of a friend. I appreciate your help.

  8. Hooray! Best wishes for happy blogging.
