I have a website with an ad for a company that publishes my books. I would like to add the ad to my blog. Here is the html…

Theo only advertising program at WordPress.com is called WordAds and it’s for blogs on their own domains. http://en.wordpress.com/apply-for-wordads/
Advertising outside of WordAds at WordPress.com is not allowed.

There are no restrictions if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities.Please see this guide to learn about the differences.
