How do I backup my site so I can migrate my blog content to Dream Host?
-
Hello,
I just subscribed to Dream Host and was told: “Unfortunately it appears your old host’s panel does not have a backup feature enabled or is not running cPanel so we won’t be able to migrate your data over automatically. Please contact them to enable this feature on their panel.”
How do I resolve this issue?
Thank you,
Laurie

When you’re in your Dashboard, go to Tools > Export. You can export an XML file of all of your pages, posts and media. This can then be imported into your self-hosted WordPress installation using the Tools > Import function.
Keep in mind you can’t take your theme or custom settings with you, and you should save the content of your widgets because you will need to reproduce those manually.
