How do I change themes?

    I am creating a website based on one of your theme templates. I have modified the original theme template quite a bit. I now want to try working from another “virgin” theme, but when I activate it, it incorporates the changes I made using the previous template. How do I “wipe the slate clean” and start over using a new template?

    Go to your custom design page, remove all the custom CSS (paste it into a text document if you think you might want it later) and click “add to existing style sheet”.

    All custom pages have been deleted and I still have the problem

    I didn’t say delete pages: I said delete the code and click “add to existing style sheet.” Have you done that?

    I found custom design page and the CSS tab, when I click on the tab the page is blank. Off to the side is says “loading design tools”, but no tools appear.

    Is it possible to speak to someowne over the phone about this issue? Is it possible for me to start over with a different admin web address so that I can start from scratch?

    There is no phone service here. I have tagged this thread so it will be moved to the CSS editing forum. Do be aware that the browsers and versions of them supported by WordPress.com are found here http://browsehappy.com

    @wkarch, go to the following link and it brings up the previous CSS editor page – at least for the time being. Staff is still working on the new Customization page and the CSS side of things in particular. Bookmark the following link so that, until they get everything sorted out, you can use the old page.

    This doesn’t sound like a CSS-specific question to me.

    I now want to try working from another “virgin” theme, but when I activate it, it incorporates the changes I made using the previous template.

    What changes are you referring to exactly? Could you include some specific examples so I can make sure I understand the question clearly?

    How do I “wipe the slate clean” and start over using a new template?

    What exactly are you trying to wipe clean? All of the blog’s contents including posts and pages and settings? Note that there is not any automated way to reset a blog back to it’s original settings. You can delete posts and pages with the bulk editor, but settings will need to be updated manually.

    @wkarch
    No we cannot help you with that site. here at all. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and have separate logins. We provide support here only for free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and no others. You are posting to the wrong support forums. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.org click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.org bloggers.

    This link http://69.195.124.87/~wkarchit/wp-admin is not to a free hosted wordpress.com blog site.

    This site, linked to your username, http://wkarch.wordpress.com , is a WordPress.com site. We can help you with that one.

    The link you referenced though looks like a temporary link from a third-party web host such as GoDaddy, Bluehost, etc.
