How do I create a members-only area on my site?

  Is it possible to create a members-only area on my site? I’m jumping in to support an existing website built in WordPress.com, but I’m only familiar with WordPress.org… in that environment, I would have installed the Members Only plug-in, and then created my restricted access pages there, but on this flavor of WordPress I’m not sure how to accomplish the same thing. Any tips?

  The blog I need help with is flaminglotus.wordpress.com.

  It’s my experience that those who want this function are best served by hiring a web host and setting up a WordPress.org install.
