How do I find the OLD EDITOR
-
Fed up with this new editor thing. Is there some way I can use the old one?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Are we talking about the Beep Beep Boop editor or the much better overall wp-admin?
No Idea for Beep-boop (I avoid it as much as I can) but to get to wp-admin ad this at the end of your URL. Eg:
https://stoutstandards.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
You can create and edit posts from there. :)

I have no idea what is going on. Now when I try to outline a photo I see the photo in a box and a blank box along side. The preview is very narrow and not at all like what I have been using for the past three years. I see an automatic draft save, etc…
So tired of changes without giving people the ability to opt out. Just upset today.
-
All I want to do is continue with my blog as it is now. I don’t appreciate other people deciding that the process should be changed.
-
Apparently this is called the New High Speed Editor. Yeah, right…. How do I access the OLD ONE? Please, someone?

ajsnowe answered your question.
If you’d like to know how to use the old classic editor for both new posts and editing you’ll have to use work-arounds. See my blog post: https://dandelionsalad.wordpress.com/2015/04/01/how-to-use-the-classic-editor-on-wordpress-com-blogs-and-never-see-the-beep-beep-boop-editor-again-by-lo/

I am talking about the NEW HIGH SPEED EDITOR…not the Beep beep thing.
Example: You are preparing a new post and instead of “save draft” it automatically saves it for you. Also when you preview there’s a very narrow preview window, not the usual full screen. Adding media is also a pain. Just totally confusing and has caused me to stop with my update. Forgive me for sounding so angry but I hate it when they just add something like this without giving people the chance to opt out.

The so-called Beep, Beep, Boop editor has been replaced and is now called the “New” editor.
If you have complaints about the “New” editor, see the main thread with Staff support: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/editor-feedback?replies=192
If you want to use the old, classic editor my blog post has links to work-arounds.

What blog post?

Thanks but I think I am confusing you and me. I know how to use this and have been, but the new HIGH SPEED editor finds a way to wiggle it’s way into the standard editor and before you know it you are out of it.
I will find a way somehow to figure it out.
-
I’m sorry if I am not understanding exactly what you want to do.
All the links on WP to “Add a New Post” go directly to the “New” editor unless you find your way to the old dashboard WP-Admin, which is why I use the work-arounds to go to the classic editor for both adding a new post/page or editing older ones.
-
What I have been trying to say is that I have been using the classic editor and understand how to get to it, BUT now the new high speed editor finds a way to show up anyway. Anyway, thanks and don’t worry about it. Apparently WordPress just arbitrarily throws out all these great updates???
-
If you read the blog post, under the section called “Never use the “new, too-blue-to-use, mostly nonfunctional, Beep, Beep, Boop” editor again:” it lists links to work-arounds. You have to use user-scripts through GreaseMonkey on Firefox, for example, and then the “New” editor won’t show up at all.
I’ve been using the user-script since WP removed the cookies and link to the “classic editor” and it’s much better.
Every time I edit a blog post, it goes to the classic editor because of the user-script. This is not authorized by WP, a blogger made these user-scripts available for those of us who wanted them.
See his blog post: https://tpenguinltg.wordpress.com/2015/03/25/classic-editor-workarounds/

Hi @disc440, sorry you don’t like the updates. Hopefully I can help.
You can use the following link to start new posts or view existing posts:
https://stoutstandards.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php
https://stoutstandards.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.phpUse the links in the left menu to stay in WP Admin (not the links in the top toolbar).
You are preparing a new post and instead of “save draft” it automatically saves it for you.
This was designed to avoid lost drafts.
Also when you preview there’s a very narrow preview window, not the usual full screen.
Click the different icons for desktop, tablet, or mobile in that preview to see different sizes. Whatever you selected last will be the default selection next time. So if you never want to see mobile-sized previews, you can avoid them if you want. There is also an advanced shortcut you can use to open a preview directly in a separate window or tab and that is to cmd+click or ctrl+click the Preview button in the new editor.
Adding media is also a pain.
How can I help you with that? What part is a pain?
-
How do I add a border now around an image? Only options I see are for left, right, center and caption?
-
Well, THANKS TO THE NEW EDITOR, today’s blog post went up prematurely with a lot of info I didn’t want to share. Thanks WordPress…. really angry now, not that you care.
-
@disc440, I’m sorry to hear that! Is it possible that you clicked Publish early by mistake or do you think something else happened that should not have? I will need more details about what went wrong in your case in order to help. I did test publishing today, and I have been using the WordPress.com editor for a few months and have not experienced publishing happening before it should have like you have described and I don’t see others talking about a problem like that in recent help requests at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/
-
I hate this new way of posting. I can no longer paste illustrations and videos into my blog posts. This is a right mess and I will be leaving wordpress. My blog is ruined now.
