How do I have a static front page?

  1. I'm very new at this.
    My posts all display on my main front page by default, but I'd like to have a static page there.
    How do I control that?

  2. I think it has been answered couple of times,
    You can control the same from ur Dashboard
    Options -> Reading
    and select the Static Page u want :)

  4. Interestingly, that does not always work.. For me, right now, when I look at Options -> Reading on my wordpress 2.1 self hosted site control panel there is no such option.

    Front page displays:
    Your latest posts
    A static page (select below - dropdown menu)
    * Front page:
    * Posts page:
    Click "update Options" to save
