How do I make my blog show up in a topic?

  • I’ve got a blog. It’s about writing. All my posts are tagged with ‘writing’ and one of my categories (the default one) is writing. So I’m a little confused as to why, when I click on the topic ‘writing’ after finishing a post an hour ago, my post doesn’t show up in that search engine.

I know it’s not going to be one of the featured ones, but I feel like it should be there. Shouldn’t it?

Or is there some other categorization that has to go on elsewhere for that to happen? Do I have to give my whole blog a topic? How do I do that?

    Help!

  • Could we have a link to your blog? We cannot help if we cannot see your blog.

  • Things look fine, but be aware that supposedly there is a delay between when you first start a blog and when it starts showing up in the global tags pages. What this delay is is not known to us poor volunteers.

That said, I am not convinced that there isn’t still a (at least partial) leftover bug of some sort from a week or so ago.

  • That’s totally fine. I mean, I imagine it’s no fun for anyone to read the three posts of someone who just started a blog and then disappears into the ether. I was just checking to make sure I wasn’t doing something wrong. If I’m still seeing that problem in a few weeks, I’ll ding you again and we can see what’s up.

    Thanks!

  • I’m with TSP: there is some kind of problem striking seemingly at random. Certain blogs have this issue, others do not.

One very old bug, so old that only a few of us now living remember, is that if you set your posts to autopost (ie you change the date/timestamp on the post to later) it won’t show up in the global tag pages until you edit it. This appears to still be happening. Could this be the factor in this case? The solution is to click Edit This Post and change one tiny thing, like a period to a comma and back or something.
