how do I reconnect to my blog

  1. I let lapse, because of the connected charge. How do I re-connect?

The blog I need help with is

  2. Pay it again.

  3. how? support gives me directions which are meaningless to me. If I was savvy, I wouldn't be using wordpress.

  4. You bought it once, so presumably you've gone through the procedure at least once before. On the Dashboard, go to Upgrades, and on the Store page, buy the domain name and domain mapping.

  5. thanks for trying to help but when I've tried that route it tells me that (a) it has expired (b) it can't be mapped to. When I check the status it is marked as being already taken. It seems like WordPress holds it but I have to re-map (?) the connections. When i tried to cut and paste the links offered into the appropriate boxes, I get told that they don't look right. If I could contact someone at WordPress, they'd probably use a couple of keystrokes to resolve matters. I can't.

  6. It looks like your domain name registration expired some time back and the name is in Redemption - you will need staff help to renew it

I have flagged this for staff attention

  7. Hi there,

Your domain has actually gone beyond redemption with the registrar - which means we can't help you recover it. I am sorry. You have a few options at this point:

You can register a new domain using another extension (.net, .org, etc.) and use that instead.

You can wait a little longer to see if the domain is re-released by the registrar (they aren't always, but we've had some users successful) and then simply repurchase the domain again.

The choice now depends on how pressing your need is - if you must have a custom domain right away, I'd go with the first option. If time is your friend, the second option may get you want you want in the longer run. I'd check every couple of days.

    Best of luck!

  8. I contacted the registrar's and received this:

  9. could you not contact the registrar and ask them to free it to me, or failing that, tell me at what date it will become free?

  10. Hi there,

Basically, it's in an automated process at this point and there's no way to release it. We passed the point of redemption and it's now in pending delete. "Delete" in this case being when the registrar re-releases it for purchase.

But here's some potentially good news - beginning about tomorrow (73 days post expiration) the domain will go to anyone who bid with the registrar to get it (these are typically large clearing houses for domains); and at day 80 if no one has bid on it, it will be released. So in about another week you could potentially be able to just re-purchase it.

For your own information, the domain expired on Oct 24, so you can count forward from there to get to 73 days and 80 days.

    I hope that helps!

  11. Thank you. Could you direct me to where I can potentially re-purchase it?

  12. Right from your Dashboard Upgrades page.

  13. Correct - go to Dashboard > Store > Domains and enter it in - if it's available, you'll be able to complete the purchase.

    I hope that helps!

  14. it is now 11/1/13 and I'm still being told that it is already registered. have i lost it to someone else?

  15. It looks like it was registered by someone else (not a user). The URL that registered it is - you could try contacting them and seeing if they are interested in passing it along.

    I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
