How do I remove the Comments box from the static front page in 2014 theme?

  1. I am using the 2014 layout for my blog at, and I was just wondering if there was a simple way to remove the comments box from the static front page in this theme? The Stay theme allowed for this when I changed to the Full Width orientation, but it doesn't appear to do the same thing in 2014. If I have to upgrade to custom design to alter it, I'll just have to deal with it for now.
    Thanks for your time!

  2. Hey - in the WordPress admin, open your home page. Look for the menu at the top of the screen titled "screen options" (on the right side of the page, above the publish box)

Open this up and make sure the button labeled "discussion" is ticked.

Now, scroll to the bottom of the page, below the post editor, and look for the section labeled "discussion" and make sure the "allow comments" button is un-ticked.

    Does this help?

  3. All WordPress blogs by default have comments open on all Pages and Posts. You can enable and disable comments on free hosted blogs on this page > Settings > Discussion

Discussion settings is where you set up defaults for comments.

You can override the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any individual post or page.

Note: By default, new blogs on will have the Discussion hidden. You can reveal it by clicking on Screen Options on the top right corner of your Admin page, and checking the box that says Discussion so the module is included.

  4. Thank you both so much! Figured it out, updated, much happier! Thanks, again.

  5. @edmeliswenk - not a problem, happy to help and I'm glad you got it figured out. :)
