How do I reorder items in my top horizontal menu?

When I run my mouse over the menu item on the far right, I have to scroll off the screen to view the menu. I want to reorder my menu to make that item *not* appear on the far right, so I can view it more easily. Or is there a way to solve this problem directly?

The blog I need help with is perseshow.wordpress.com.

I see what you mean but I don’t have a solution for you. I believe the spaces could be made smaller with CSS editing but I’m not sure that would solve the issue. I would change themes.

I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance because I do not know how to help you. Another Volunteer may answer prior to Staff but I tagged the thread so it will not fall through the cracks and escape attention. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Thanks. I appreciate the help. I’m subscribed to the thread already.

Also…can anyone tell me how to control the order of menu sub-items?

I noticed you added the tag “mod look”…what is that?

    Hi Perse,

The easiest way to control the order of items in your menu (whether top-level items or sub-items) is to set up a custom menu under Appearance > Menus in your dashboard. You can drag and drop the menu items in the order you’d like them to appear on your site. We have more about how to set those up here: Custom Menus

Let me know if there’s anything more I can do to help with that. :)

The “modlook” tag is a way to get attention from staff or moderators in a forum thread: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wordpresscom-forums-code-of-conduct

    Thanks, Rachelmcr (some username, haha!).

I’ve done that…I think. I have a custom menu in my widgets but the menu up top is not affected (not that I think it would be). It seems to be automatically organized by the time of the page’s posting, but I post some out of order. I’m just wondering if I can manually arrange those items. I don’t really expect that I can.

    Hi Perse,

For your custom menu to be used at the top of the page, you’ll need to assign it to the “Primary Navigation” location in your theme. You can do that from Appearance > Menus in your dashboard.

At the top of that page, click the “Manage Locations” tab. The Skeptical theme you’re using supports 1 menu, in the “Primary Navigation” location, so you can select the menu you created from the dropdown list next to that location. Then, click the Save Changes button and your custom menu will be used at the top of your site.

We have more about that here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#managing-your-menus

Just let me know if you have any other questions about that!

Gosh darn it…your help helped, but now I have another problem.

I made static tabs for basically everything on my site…and now since I used my home page’s URL everything is highlighted because I’m technically on that link! Is there a way to fix this?
