How do I restore accidentally deleted images from my media library?

  1. hitchedweddings

Hello! We accidentally deleted the images from our media library. You were able to help out cupandpenny on the support forum here: who had our exact same problem. You can see our post about the problem here: We are definitely freaking out a little because of the four years of work we put into the blog. We would be so so grateful and happy if you all could do a restore for us. In addition, we will be upgrading our storage and paying for our blog in the future so that this doesn't happen again. If you all are not able to do a system restore, any advice would be appreciated. Thank you so much in advance for your help. - Jessica Corbett, Hitched Weddings and Events, [email redacted], 913.909.1194.

  2. There is only one way to restore images you deleted from your Media Library and that's by uploading them again. There is no option for recovery.

According to this post: There is some sort of system back up that exists... Let me know what you think. Any help is appreciated!

  6. Hi there, @hitchedweddings,

Reviewing your site, it looks like you deleted a significant number of files 18 days ago, is that what you were talking about?

If so, the only save point that we have which will work for you will be from 2013-04-14 at 23:00 UTC. Would you like me to have that restored for you?

    Let me know!

Hello! So happy to hear from you! That would be AMAZING. The big delete happened on 4.26. A few questions - do we need to purchase the extra storage (which we are MORE than happy to do) before the restore? Finally, will any work that we have done since that date be erased? If so, that is fine, I just want to make sure to store the verbage of those posts on a word document in the meantime.

  8. Hi there,

Yes, you will indeed need to purchase the additional add-on before we proceed with the restore.

Also, the restore WILL wipe out any updates which you've made since then. If there have updates since then that you do not want to lose, I would recommend that you export your blog to a different blog as a temporary placeholder then once everything has been restored, you can re-import it using these instructions:

This is amazing news. Thank you so much! We are going to work on backing up a few drafts, but we should be set for the restore this evening. You have saved us countless hours of slaving away at putting these images back in. I will also upgrade our storage this afternoon. I will post on here once we are set to go.

  10. Sounds great! Let me know!

  11. hitchedweddings

OK! We are all set and ready to be restored. So happy you could help us with this. THANK YOU!

  12. Heya @hitchedweddings,

I've initiated the request for your content to be restored. As soon as I have any additional information for you (or as soon as it is completed!), I'll let you know!

  13. hitchedweddings

Fantastic. Just let us know if there is anything else we need to do. Thank you SO much for your attention to this matter.

  14. Hi there,

I'm so sorry that I didn't respond earlier, but I took very suddenly ill and have been out.

I hope you noticed, but your content was restored on the same day that we last spoke. I hope that it is to your satisfaction! Let me know if there's anything else that you need.

  15. Hi there! I recently made a similar mistake. However, what I did was a complete re-install of WordPress, so as to have a clean slate for a new website design. I thought I backed up everything, but for some reason I only have the past two months worth of image files located in "/public_html/wp-content/uploads". My posts go back to 2009, and everything older than May 2013 now have broken image links. Is there any way to get these image folders restored without rolling back my entire website? Perhaps I should contact my hosting company? Thanks for your help and advice!

  16. Sorry! The website in question is

  17. Hi there,

You will indeed need to contact your hosting company. We are only able to assist with restoring content for sites which are hosted here at
