I want to embed a video clip in my post, but when I save the code, WordPress rewries it and it doesn’t work. I’ve unticked use Visual Editor in my account setting and unticked correct nested xhtml in the write setting, but it still screws up my code.

Having the same problem with some HTML code for a email subscription form. Whenever I save the page, it removes all of the editable fields and buttons, just leaving the text.

    Any help?

ownafilmcompany – you cannot use any video embed that is not allowed here. The list of videos that are permissable is included in the FAQ.

econsultation – you posted the same thing in another thread. The code you are trying to post likely includes items that are not allowed here.

Both of you – try posting the code here in the forums between backticks (the key to the left od the number 1 on your keyboard) and we can take a look. There are quite a few things that are stripped out of the code (frames, forms, javascript, among them) due to security concerns.

Tell me if I did the backticks wrong… I put them in after < but before the words…

You just need one backtick at the beginning of the code and one at the end, not in each line.

If this kind of HTML is not allowed, is there anyway to set up a contact form on wordpress.com sites?

econ – that is a form and it is not allowed here. Look for the pure HTML code for that. You may have to link to the form off-site instead of having it on your blog (like I do with my email subscriptions on my blog).

own – that will not work here because both the embed codes and the flash codes will be stripped out. Neither of those are allowed here. Best bet for video formats not allowed here is VodPod. It can handle just about anything.
