How do I transfer media files?
-
I have recently moved my blog to hostgator. I exported and imported my teachinstyle.wordpress.com blog information, but the media files didn’t come over. My posts all transferred, but in the wordpress.com blog where I had insterted a gallery is now nothing. The code is still there, but nothing appears there. How do I get these files over to my new instance of wordpress?

Howdy, you have reached support for WordPress.com blogs. Once you are have migrated to a self-hosted installation of WordPress, all question regarding installation, setup, and import, should be taken to the WordPress community on their forums: http://wordpress.org/support/
It appears that your images were not imported into your WordPress.org installation, they are still being loaded from WordPress.com. Could you please try to export and re-import again? You can export your blog here: https://teachinstyle.wordpress.com/wp-admin/export.php?type=export

I have done that several times. I get a list saying that “media files already exist.” It brings over some, maybe 100 or so, but I have over 700 media files total.

In that case, it sounds like the issue is on the import end.
Please contact the folks at http://wordpress.org/support/ about this.
