How do I unmap a domain?
I would like to unmap the external domain that I set by mistake and I would like to do a domain registration through WordPress. I cannot find a way to delete or make any change in my settings.
The blog I need help with is mosesrobinsonblog.wordpress.com.
What is the URL of the domain that you mapped?
Which underlying .wordpress.com URL did you map from to it?
Exactly which username account registered the underlying .wordpress.com URL and purchased the domain mapping upgrade for it?
When was the purchase made?
You can view all transactions made with WordPress.com, including payments and refunds, in your Billing History. https://en.support.wordpress.com/billing-history/
Canceling and refunding purchases
There are no prorated refunds. Refunds https://en.support.wordpress.com/refunds/ are time limited.
• WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund from date of purchase on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers.
• The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours.
• It takes 7 – 10 business days and depending where you live from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received after canceling an upgrade and requesting one.
You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, cancel any upgrades, claim a refund for any qualified upgrades, and disable auto-renew. See: Canceling and refunding purchases http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades
It is important to know that cancelled domains are not released by the registrar immediately. Also note that here’s no guarantee you’ll be able to use a domain again as it may be sold to someone else. Therefore you should cancel a domain, if and only if, you are sure you do not wish to use it again.
I will also type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for a Staff follow-up. I have unmapped your subscription for mosesrobinson.com and refunded the charges back to you. It can take between 7-10 business days for the refund to reflect on your bank statement.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Actually, what I will do is keep the charges intact and add a domain credit to your account so that you can register the domain. Let me know if you are able to register the domain without paying. Thanks!
Many thanks for unmapping my domain, darnelldibbles. That will take care of the problem :-)
I was familiar with most of the information you shared, timethief, except for typing modlook into the sidebar tags. That was a great new tip. Thanks!!
I need the same kind of assistance, I am trying to unmap a domain because I want to change it to another account, I have already canceled the particular upgrades and I own the domain, I just need it unmapped from thewritingmadmancom.wordpress.com so that I can remap it to the other username I intended to set up to begin with. The domain I am trying to unmap is thewritingmadman.com would like to just transfer this purchase to the actual username I wanted to use which is thewritingmadman.wordpress.com is this possible at all.
Hi thewritingmadman –
To clarify (before I go making changes) you’d like me to connect thewritingmadman.com to thewritingmadman.wordpress.com?
Yes that is correct, would love to transfer that business purchase as well but don’t know if that is possible
I can see that thewritingmadman.wordpress.com is connected to thewritingmadman.com through domain mapping and the Premium plan.
So, I am not quite sure I understand what the end goal is as this is already established. Did you want to change that Premium plan to Business?
It was fixed yesterday thanks
Awesome :) Take care!
