How do I use a different theme?
-
I just downloaded a zip file of a free theme. In wordpress, one can just say “change theme” and it changes the theme. However this theme is not on the WP site and I downloaded the free files. Now how do I begin to use this theme to update my blog to the new theme?
Thanks. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The only themes we can use on wordpress.com blogs are found here Dashboard > Appearance > Themes
There is no FTP access to wordpress.com blogs and we cannot install themes and/or plugins into them. See here > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Themes found on the internet are for self-hosted wordpress blogs using the software from wordpress.ORG.

Web upload into the themes directory could generate more traffic on this site
with minimal space required. For example, those capable of making a template
could afford the opportunity in displaying such. There could be a contest
for inclusion into the public themes library for instance… -

You cannot use templates/themes from outside wordpress here at wordpress.COM. Even if we had FTP access, the templates here have to be changed to support the features and restrictions here, and also to make sure they don’t have any security holes that could bring everyone down.
Also, how many people do you know that can make secure themes using PHP scripting? WordPress won’t work with HTML only templates.
