how old is the oldest cat you know

  1. I think the oldest cat on record is 27 but I am not sure, my cat was 23 in march, he's got a bit tatty now but seems to still enjoy living, eating and walking - the only trouble is his loud meow noise which can start at any time day or night for food as he eats little and often.

The blog I need help with is

  2. How delightful! You should post some pictures of the little fellow on your site, so that we can see for ourselves. I once knew a Burmese who lived to the age of twenty. He slept a lot and was incontinent. It's a pity that our feline friends live such short lives; Mother Nature can be awfully stingy.

Did you know that there is a type of jellyfish that can live forever? Turritopsis Nutricula can revert back to its immature, polyp, stage after sexual maturity. It's a useful ability, wouldn't you agree?

  3. I will have do do a little blog for him soon, a lady I met saved a dove 21 years ago and it still visits her now! I didnt know that about the jellyfish -what facinating world we live in

  4. "Turritopsis Nutricula can revert back to its immature, polyp, stage after sexual maturity."

I dated a few Turritopsis Nutricula.

  5. @gigi: ZING! You too?

  6. ZING! Notice how they are [spineless] jellyfish. This is how we got the term to describe them, I am sure. Don't even get me started. ;-)

  7. Oh wait...

Read this. This was published and you would not believe how many women wrote me and my editor to tell us how much they could relate. I can't even take credit for this story. It's one of two things I have ever written where I can't say I take credit. Songwriters talk about this. I swear I didn't write it -it's as if a ghost was talking to me. All I did was write the lead sentence and sit at my computer, and then everything else just flowed. There was no thinking, whatsoever.

This one also got a lot of feedback but this one is more sentimental, not so funny like the other:

  8. ps: The oldest cats I know are immortal. They live on in my heart.

  9. Right, I have written a quick blog and uploaded a photo of my little old furry friend, if you want to see him.

  10. Jinx! (We're on at the same time)

Bonzai is a cutie. How wonderful that you have had him this long. Maybe he will outlive the Guiness kitty!

  11. How old is the Guiness cat ?

  12. idiotphotographer

Oldest cat I've known was 24, he passed away last year.

  13. You said 27 so I thought maybe that was a Guiness cat but I love the question cuz I'm a research hound.

There is a Guinness site but I can't seem to log on. Here's what I found from, which seems to be quoting Guinness, but I wouldn't take this as a reputable source b/c it isn't Guinness and b/c it's not familiar. So if you can log onto the Guinness site, that would be a better source.

Oldest living cat: ...the oldest living cat is a Burmese called Kataleena Lady who lives in Melbourne, Australia. Kataleena Lady was born on March 11th, 1977.

Oldest cat: The oldest living cat is Creme Puff of Austin Texas. Born on August 3rd 1967, Creme Puff celebrated her 38th birthday in August 2005.

Also deserving a mention are Puss, who was born in 1903. Puss was owned by Mrs T. Holway of Devon. Puss passed away on 29th November, 1939, one day after his 36th birthday. The second is Granpa who lived to the ripe old age of 34. Granpa Rexs Allen (Granpa for short) was a Sphyx adopted from the Humane Society in Texas.

  14. Yikes, this is exactly what I meant about sources. They've got a cat born in1977 as the "oldest living cat" and a cat born in 1967 as the "oldest living cat." Guinness won't have typos. But I would venture to say that there were cats in the olden days, in Egypt, that lived to be older -that we'll never know about.

  15. I cant imagine it living for anther 12 years!

  16. gigisanchez

I love it, there will always be frogs and jackasses in your life, but only one lion that is your heart WOW!

  17. by the way I think the oldest cat may be in Egypt

  18. Care2012 --> Imagine it. It won't hurt your chances. Seeing what you want can sometimes make things come true... I like this avatar much better. It's cute!

embraceaware --> Thanks for your comment. Try the other link, you might like that story, too. It's nonfiction. The funniest comment I got on that frog story was from a young girl whose grandmother read it in the paper and then gave it to her daughters and grandaughters to read, and one of the grandaughters wrote me and asked:

    "Dear Ms. Sanchez,
Now that you don't date the frogs anymore, does that mean you're gay?"

ha HA HA ha hA Ha

I love this --> "I have three children, two “normal” but hey you can’t always get it right..."

  19. "Dear Ms. Sanchez, you are so funny and ta for having a look

  20. thepurpledogpaintingblog
