How to Add Multiple Slideshows to a Post?

I’m a newbie writing up my first post ever today (YAY!) and I’d like to include more than one slideshow of different photos, however I’m not having any luck. Seems as though any pictures I upload go into a single gallery with a button for slideshow feature.

I’d like to be able to include two different sets of pictures for 2 slideshows within one posting, is this possible? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks so much,

The blog I need help with is

The slideshow here is pretty bare bones at this time and you can only have one slideshow per post. You could upload the images to another one of the supported services and then use the shortcodes for those into the posts and have multiples, but you need to be careful and not load up too many or the post will load very slowly and there are still many out there on slower internet connections (under 1Mbps) and you don’t want to drive them off.

See the bottom of this page for a list of other supported slideshows.

Thanks so much for that information. Do you know if there Is there a way to determine how many images I can include on one post without overwhelming users? What do image based/photography blogs do?

Also, is a way around this just creating separate posts for different topics even if I’m creating them all on one day? Since a blog reads almost like a diary of sorts, I’m wondering if it would be strange to write multiple posts in one day. New to this and would love feedback, thanks!

    Thanks again!

I would probably not have more than a total of 12 images (6 per slideshow).

Yes, creating separate posts with only one slideshow per post would probably be best.

Also, if you are going to be using lots of slideshows, I would set your site to display perhaps 3 to 5 posts per page so that your pages load reasonably quickly (settings > reading).

Ok, thanks so much. I will experiment with creating different posts & pages.
Thanks again for all of your help!

Any slideshow is going to slow down the page load time for your visitors, so I’d keep it to a max of 3, especially if they are all showing on the front page of the blog.

You can also use the “More” tag after a paragraph of text or some intro text about the post and write “Pictures after the jump” or some such.

More about the “More” tag here:
