how to add widgets and categories to a post

I use the Manifest theme, and the example shows that you can add widgets and categories to a post, it is unclear how I can do this. For example: the archives page in the menu has archives, tags and categories in the post. Any thoughts on how to do this?

The blog I need help with is tarotforthetimes.wordpress.com.

Widgets can only be installed in sidebars. They cannot be installed in pages or posts. This is the link to the main page for all available widgets. If you click the links on that page they will direct to individual pages that provide descriptions of each widget, what it’s for and how to install it.

add categories to posts (categories cannot be added to pages)
display categories in categories widget (categories will not display until there is one published post in each category)
    archives widget

Please also see my extensive answer to you in the first thread you posted on this subject > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-do-i-get-posts-to-show-up-in-the-assigned-categories?replies=2#post-680522

But, if you look at the Manifest theme example it looks like you can, and I noticed someone else who uses that theme was able to. When you click on Archive in the menu, it leads you to a page where the archives are listed, but tags and categories are also listed. Aren’t these widgets?

No. What you are seeing is a static page upon which the Archive shortlink has been entered. The blogger in question chose to create a custom menu. I typed and typed a lengthy answer to you here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-do-i-get-posts-to-show-up-in-the-assigned-categories?replies=2#post-680522 Please read it.

I have been reading your replies. I am still learning how to use wordpress and I am also trying to learn the language of wordpress, so there are bound to be some repeat questions as I try and figure out how to use it. Thanks for your patience as I try and navigate through all of this.

You’re welcome and not to worry. I have been here for over 5 years but I do remember what it was like when I was a new blogger here. If you go back to the first thread you posted and work your way through what I supplied you will be able to achieve what you want. Best wishes with your blog. :)
