I’d like to modify the footer in my theme (Twenty Eleven) and put in my company name and a link to our website. I can’t figure out a way to do this – any information on how to make this happen???

The blog I need help with is buzzfile.wordpress.com.

Just a note while you wait for some CSS help – you can add the company name etc before or after the existing footer but you can not replace the footer without having your blog suspended

    Current Terms of Service:

    11. Attribution. Automattic reserves the right to display attribution links such as ‘Blog at WordPress.com,’ theme author, and font attribution in your blog footer or toolbar. Footer credits and the WordPress.com toolbar may not be altered or removed regardless of upgrades purchased.

The current policy about the footer in the support documentation:

May I remove the ‘Blog at WordPress.com’ credit in my site’s footer?
Although the Custom Design Upgrade certainly grants you the capability to hide the credit from your site’s footer, you are not permitted to do so. Even our VIP bloggers are required to maintain the credit.

And another note: why not simply use a footer widget?

You have the 2011 theme – just make a text link and paste it into one of the footer widget areas

If you can’t do links in html – the use a draft Post to build the text and link then copy the html/text into a text widget and you should be good to go –

it you have trouble with that – post the text and link you want and someone will probably help you

And all without CSS – I love it when a plan comes together

You be welcome & good luck with your blog

But I can’t avoid the temptation (sorry Mike)! If you wish, you can now use CSS to make the font of the text you added identical to that of the credits, and/or remove the border below it, shorten the distances and unify the background color so that your text will look as if it’s in the same area with the credits.

yes Panos – a touch of CSS will make things look better and match up

Not a problem with a suggestion

When I had my .ORG install I struggled with CSS and changed the font colors to a color that was easier to read – there was a reason when I moved over here I ask about Themes with built in large type and easy to read colors

I am also having the same issue with my website Christmas Gifts. How can I change the footer of my wordpress theme.
If anyone has its solution, thanks in advance :)

Hi @sanpatrick, since http://www.xmaspresents.co/ is self-hosted and using a theme that we are not familiar with, I would suggest contacting the theme designer, or you can also post for assitance in the self-hosted WordPress.org Themes and Templates forum.

With a self-hosted site, you can create a child theme and then edit the footer php script file and edit the footer content as you desire. Creating a child theme means that your changes would not be overwritten by future theme updates. You can find more information on creating a child theme in the WordPress.org Documentation.
