How to Contact Support?
-
I’m interested in purchasing a premium of business plan in order to use videopress for hosting videos, however I’m having hell of a trouble getting anywhere. Trying to upgrade from within my account gets stuck on step 2 and keeps redirecting me back to step 2. Trying to contact support takes me to a page that does not contain any contact form. I’m pretty much left in the dark. I’ve run a website on my own domain using the wordpress.org script for 8 years, but have never come across platform that would be as impossible to use as wordpress.com. What gives?

There is no phone support but the support docs at http://support.wordpress.com are easy to find and there are links to them all over this site, for example, look at the bottom of this page.
For all the support options when you have technical support issues
see https://en.support.wordpress.com/help-support-options/See here Live Chat Support https://en.support.wordpress.com/live-chat/
If you have a paid upgrade, please use the “Contact Support” form, http://support.wordpress.com/contact/ where you will receive a choice of having staff answer your question publicly or privately.
re: direct email support
Also note, that you can email Staff at:

re: purchasing upgrades
Upgrades apply to sites; they do not apply to accounts. Therefore, You need to register a wordpress.COM site first and then purchase the upgrade.
You can register as many blogs as you want to under the same username account and associated email address.
https://en.wordpress.com/signup/Premium bundle details are here http://store.wordpress.com/plans/premium/
Business bundle details are here http://store.wordpress.com/plans/business/
videopress details are here https://en.support.wordpress.com/videopress/Neither the free plan nor the Premium plan will allow you to upload your own themes or plugins. More to the point is that WordPress.com blogs cannot be equipped for eCommerce transactions unless they have the $299. per year Business upgrade.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/ecommerce/Note that each upgrade bundle applies to a single blog only and is for a single year only when it is due to be renewed. There are no discounts based on non-profit status or any discriminatory factors and invoices or purchase orders are not accepted. See here for payment methods https://en.support.wordpress.com/payment/
We all pay in full for every upgrade at the time of purchase. Make sure you read the comparison very closely do you know exactly what the restrictions and limitations on WordPress.COM blogging are: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Read Important Notes Before Upgrading http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#important-notes-before-upgrading
Every WordPress.COM blog has a sole owner. It is the person with the WordPress.COM username account who registered the blog under that username account and a single associated email address, and who is the original Admin of the blogs registered under that username account.
You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard and purchase upgrades at > Dashboard> Store > My Upgrades
https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/Your billing history will be at Dashboard > Store > Billing History
https://en.support.wordpress.com/billing-history/Your only options for payment are found here http://en.support.wordpress.com/payment/

Do I understand it correctly that I would have to abandon my present webhost and custom setup in order to sign up for videopress?
-
Yes. WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and different.
WordPress.com provides free blogs and hosts them free of charge. There are no bandwidth charges. All WordPress.com blogs come with 3000 megabytes (~3 GBs) of space for storing uploaded files and images. Free features are listed here https://en.wordpress.com/features/
See here for details of all 3 plans http://store.wordpress.com/bundles/ offered by WordPress.com.

Hi @bestgorevideos , you can use VideoPress on a WordPress.org site, actually. The videos will be stored here and streamed from our servers. You’ll also need Jetpack to connect your self hosted site for the VideoPress service. I’d recommend getting that first then using its signup flow.

No problem, @timethief
And @bestgorevideos, let me know when you’ve got Jetpack connected. You’ll also need a site here (for storing the videos). We can help you through.
