How to delete/block a subscriber

    Hi
Is there a way for me to delete or block a subscriber. I recently received a subscription from an address that is a bit suspect to me and I am not comfortable with this particular subscriber.
    Thanks

The blog I need help with is ksdsalumparents.wordpress.com.

  2. Email subscribers can be manually removed by clicking on the remove subscriber link under the subscriber: http://en.support.wordpress.com/blog-subscriptions/#subscription-statistics-removing-subscribers

BUT and it's a big BUT if they are wordpress.com users and have subscribed to the blog itself through their "subscribe" button in their gray admin bar, then you cannot delete them.

For trolls, you can "blacklist" them at Settings > Discussion toward the bottom of that page. Enter their email address, their username, and if they included it, their website. That will automatically send them to moderation so that their comments do not appear on the blog. Do note though that if they are determined, they can use a different email address or username to get around that. Also, do not put their IP address in the blacklist. IP addresses are no longer unique, and you might end up blocking legitimate visitors. Also, all they would have to do is go to a wi-fi hot spot, or connect via a different ISP and they could get around that.

One other thing I would suggest is to set your blog so that first time commenters are held in moderation till approved, then from that point forward they will not need approval. Settings > Discussion. The next step on that of course is to set it so that all comments are held in moderation until approved. That way you are in control, and they might just get tired and go elsewhere after a while.

  3. Im afraid a "Happiness Engineer" recently mentioned that there was no way to remove subscribers from our subscribers' list. See Macmanx answer here : http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/can-we-approvedisapprove-subscribers?replies=15

  4. Yes, that's why I already stated that above and provided a link to another Staff entry on the subject. lol :D If the are w wordpress.com user and they subscribe using the "subscribe" link on the gray navigation bar we cannot delete them.

  5. Mmmm...I was not talking about wordpress.COM subscribers but about ANY subscriber. If you re-read what macmanx says, this applies to ANY subscriber. He actually thanks you in that thread for pointing out that there is no such link "Remove subscriber" under ALL subscribers anymore, and that this section has been REMOVED from the Support pages. Please re-read the thread Ive linked to :). Plus just go to you subscribers' list, you will see that there is NO "Remove subscriber" link under the subscriber's name, with or without a .COM blog...
    Hope that helps.

<blockquote. As long as your site is publicly available on the web, there is no way to block specific people from seeing it. The “Remove Subscriber” link didn’t ban a user from your site, stopped them from reading it, or even prevented them from subscribing to it again. Note that there is no limit for how many people can subscribe to your site.</blocquote>

I have now re-read both entries. Thank you so much for the correction. I really appreciate it because I don't want to misinform people so I will now update my notes. :)

  7. You're welcome. So answer to OP is indeed that they cannot remove any subscriber.

  8. Exactly! :)

Thank you all so much for weighing in. I did look for that "remove subscriber" link but didn't see it ... and now I know why.
I really appreciate all of the input.... I guess I will just monitor comments by this person.

I'm sorry about my earlier confusion and I'm grateful for sunnisme setting me straight on this. I moderate all comments on all my blogs. Best wishes to you.

  11. Hi
I have too looked how to blog a subscriber from my blog but can,t. They don't leave comments so that is now a problem however i no longer desire them to receive my blog updates to there email, and seems unfair i'm unable to remove them from my blog as a follower.

Unless there is and i have over looked the link?
