How to Downgrade to .Com

  1. Hello,
I want to down grade (maybe wrong word, sorry if someone doesn't like it) my own domain to, the site: has already been taken so I want to do, but it doesn't allow me to grab it, error message says: is no longer available.
The authors have deleted this site.

The error message doesn't make sense to me: If the site is deleted, why it is no longer available?

The blog I need help with is

  2. The blog you specified at does not appear to be hosted at

  3. super robot! I don't need help on, it shows up in the dropdownlist automatically

  4. To be clear on this you cannot register a deleted URL. Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.

You can register another blog with a similar name.

Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying address is.

  5. Thanks

  6. You're welcome.

  7. However: - is open and available - is taken but does not seem to be used - you could try leaving a comment on the blog and maybe the owner would transfer it to you

and as noted above - you can map your existing name to a blog here $ 13.-- / year

You also need to read the Terms of Service before you move (you can't put ads on a blog here)

  8. Thanks auxclass, I did see lots of people having ads on their blogs, how come you say ads are not allowed?

  9. You can not sell ad space, I think I saw some ads on your current .ORG install, some people move here and don't understand that part. Just did not want you to be surprised if you moved here.

Also to keep the hosting cost "free" WordPress.COM sometimes places ads on blogs here unless you have purchased the No Ads Upgrade $ 30.-- / year.

Then there is the part that WordPress.ORG installed blog look almost exactly the same as a WordPress.COM blog and that leads to confusion about ads.
