How to edit the top menu in Twenty Eleven

  1. Hi,

    Im pretty new to wordpress and have been playing around with the Twenty Eleven theme.
    What I would like to change is the background colour of the bar, if its possible (which is black by default), but most importantly the menu, I want to add a few links next to "Home".

    I tried out the menus and navigation configs but didn't quite get that to work.

    Thanks for any help!

  2. I figured out how to add links, but still trying to change the colour of the bar!

    Thans :)

  3. I'd love to change the menu bar color as well for this theme, but I don't think you can. Hopefully someone has a way!

    Hello there,
    This thread has been flagged so it will be moved to the CSS editing forum where you can get help. I also searched for you as this theme has been CSS edited many times and there are threads that have useful information for you.

    As all CSS editing is theme specific and this thread was started by sofanerds who is working with Twenty Eleven, will you please start your own thread for CSS editing ChaoticSoul by clicking this link >

  6. @timethief
    I'm confused about your comment to me...I use Twenty Eleven also.

  7. @zimonawhim
    Oops! I'm sorry. I guess I was confused, so just ignore that "not enough coffee" comment please. :)

  8. To change the background color of the top navigation in the Twenty Eleven theme, add this to your Appearance → Custom Design → CSS page:

    #access {
        background: darkred;

    Adjust the color as necessary.

    There are a number of other color changes you can make to that menu including the hover color for each menu item as well as the font color and hover color. If you need help with those, let us know.
