    Hi there,

    Trying to embed the video from this link: http://www.vh1.com/video/misc/815709/naive-melody-you-oughta-know-live.jhtml#id=1689765 onto my blog. However, the embed function doesn’t seem to work – when I paste it into my blog and then preview it, it just shows up as the code vs. generating the video.

    Code as listed on the site is: <embed src=”http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:vh1.com:815709/cp~id%3D1689765%26vid%3D815709%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Avh1.com%3A815709″ width=”512″ height=”288″ type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” allowFullScreen=”true” allowScriptAccess=”always” base=”.”></embed> <div style=”margin:0px;padding:4px;width:500px;text-align:center;font-family:Verdana,sans-serif;font-size:12px;”>The LumineersNaive Melody (You Oughta Know Live)The Lumineers Music VideosLive Performances</div>

    Is there something I need to do to make this wordpress friendly?

    Any help would be appreciated!
    Tory

    The blog I need help with is theuntzandtheindie.com.

    Hi there,
    See here for the video embeds that WordPress.com does support > http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/ and note what’s listed under “Related” as well.

    I’m having the same problem. I’ve used this function before but somethings not right.

    #988029

    OH I see NOW they charge to embed. UGH

    Hi timetheif,

    Thanks for the response! I checked out your link. So if the video player used by VH1 is not supported by WordPress, then there is no way to embed it?

    @tphobbitwoman
    In the furture it would be best if you please do not post into forum threads when you don’t have a link to backup what you say, as all you do is create a chain of misinformation and confusion.

    @torlarson54
    Embedding videos is free of all charge, except in one case. The only paid upgrade for videos is for the videopress upgrade it allows you to upload videos from your computer for hosting and playback directly within your blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/videopress/
    That does not apply to your situation.

    Timethief – thanks for clarifying! SInce this is not my own video, as you said, is there any way to get it onto the blog or do I just need to link to it?

    @torlarson54 Correct I recommend to try finding the same video through one of the supported embed video sites. The other option is to link to the video in your post

    @torlarson54: You can embed any video as long as it provides a flash code (tag “embed” and/or “object”). In the case of the code you pasted above, you isolate this:
    <embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:vh1.com:815709/cp~id%3D1689765%26vid%3D815709%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Avh1.com%3A815709" width="512" height="288" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed>

    and turn it to this:
    [gigya src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:vh1.com:815709/cp~id%3D1689765%26vid%3D815709%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Avh1.com%3A815709" width="512" height="288" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="." ]
