    Hi guys,

    How to increase the main column width (post width) of Twenty Fourteen theme? I’ve tried to adjust the “Content “Width” box but see no changes.

    Thank you!

    The blog I need help with is taihoang.net.

    Hi there, the Content Width box is the number that WordPress will use to size your images and videos which are inserted at maximum width, but they theme itself has to be widened first and then that number put into the Content Width.

    I checked all the sites associated with your username and none of them are using Twenty Fourteen. Have you changed themes or are you talking about a different site perhaps under a different username?

    Hi thesacredpath, thank you for your response.

    My main site is http://www.taihoang.net and I’ve switched to Ari theme, but I sill need to increase the post width of 2014 theme.

    I’ll get “Custom Design” upgrade but sadly I’m new to CSS. Could you please show me how to change post width by using CSS? Thank you!

    Hi,

    Try something like this to increase the content width to 800px (it was 474px originally) for the Twenty Fourteen theme:

    .site-content .entry-header,
    .site-content .entry-content,
    .site-content .entry-summary,
    .site-content .entry-meta,
    .page-content {
    	max-width: 800px;
    }

    There is a nice little plugin that will do some of the heavy lifting for you if you don’t want to edit styles.css http://wordpress.org/plugins/fourteen-extended/

    @women40260, there is not an option to install custom plugins here at WordPress.com. See http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
