How to make a blog post not look like a blog post

I’ve googled this topic and the web sites that come up suggest using certain plugins (such as the ‘no category’ plugin in conjunction with the ‘redirection’ plugin). However, I have not been successful in using these plugins.

What I’m trying to do for my website is create a list of hotels in the center column. For each hotel, I would like to have a title, a small thumbnail, a small description (100 words or less), and a link to more in-depth descriptive page of the particular hotel. A perfect example of the look I’m going for can be seen in the “Feature Hotels” section near the top of the page at (I’m not affiliated with them).

Is there a plugin, widget, etc that will make this type of listing?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks a bunch.
