    I want to add static words above the posts in the category pages. It sounds to me like the best way to do this is to just simply write in the category description box. My ownl problem is that this text does not show up anywhere on my site.

    I saw somewhere that I could add the following code if there is no category.php or archive.php only thing is i have no idea where to put this code.

    <?php if( is_category() ) : ?>
    <?php global $cat; ?>
    <?php echo category_description( $cat ); ?>
    <?php endif; ?>

    I also saw that inserting:
    <?php echo category_description(); ?>
    to the file name for categories may work but again no category.php

    I am just very confused.
    Thanks for any help!

    None of that is applicable to a free hosted WordPress.com blog and those are the only blogs we provide support for here. That’s not as free hosted WordPress.com blog that you are referring to. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.org click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.org bloggers.

    You are correct. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.org click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.org bloggers.
