I submitted a change of IP address for an existing domain (reserved from another provider) with the following address: 126.96.36.199. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be working. This IP address was listed on the “Map an Existing Domain” Support page here at WP. Please let me know if I need to use another IP address. Thanks
Given the fact that glitches like this generally require staff intervention, and they’re officially not around until the 19th (although sometimes they materialize) I wouldn’t try doing ANYTHING with domains at the moment.
Also, any DNS change takes 24-72 hours to propagate through all the domain name servers on the internet, so you just have to be patient. Typically it will start working after a few hours, and then by 24 is pretty much stabilized, but I’ve done a couple that took 72 hours before they stabilized and worked consistently.
Thanks very much for the guidance. I have set up a few email accounts with the service provider who registered my url. If I use the “NS1.WORDPRESS.COM” address, will that cause any problems for the email accounts? Please let me know. Thanks again.
